Winter Celebrations Offer Joyous Fun this Holiday Season

With the holiday season in full swing, the City of San Diego is inviting kids and adults of all ages to enjoy winter holiday-themed events and activities. These winter celebrations are planned at multiple recreation centers and parks throughout the city and promise a fun-filled, festive time.

Hosted by the Parks and Recreation Department, activities include food, entertainment, snow days, crafts, jumpers, cookies with Santa and more. Most events are free to attend and scheduled throughout December and into January.

“We are excited to welcome families from all over San Diego this holiday season to join in the wide variety of festive activities our Parks and Recreation Department team has planned,” said Andy Field, Director of the City’s Parks and Recreation Department. “We believe that these events will help get everyone into the holiday spirit, while providing safe, family-friendly venues to celebrate the season.”

Dozens of events are being held throughout the season, and a small sampling of the variety of activities is listed below:

Additionally, AgeWell Services has planned a series of Cookies & Cheer events, aimed at community members ages 60 and better who wish to celebrate the joy of the holiday season together. Remaining Cookies & Cheer events are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14, at Park de la Cruz Community Center, Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Balboa Park Lounge in Casa del Prado, and Friday, Dec. 20, at the Cathy Hopper Friendship Center.
