Residents Invited to Recycle Christmas Trees for Free

Christmas Tree Recycling

This holiday season, the City of San Diego is continuing its commitment to sustainability with the launch of its annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program. Starting Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024, residents can drop off their clean, undecorated Christmas trees at any 16 designated locations for free recycling. Trees may also be placed in residential green bins as long as they fit entirely inside the bin with the lid closed.

Running through Jan. 16, 2025, the program offers an eco-friendly way to dispose of holiday trees and helps reduce waste at the Miramar Landfill. The trees are turned into high-quality mulch and compost, available for free to residents at the Miramar Greenery, located at 5180 Convoy Street.

For more information and a list of drop-off locations, visit the City of San Diego’s Environmental Services Department website.
