Neighbors Offer Suggestions for Stormwater Improvements During Workshops in Skyline

Seeking input from community members living along Chollas Creek, the City of San Diego hosted two public workshops in April to connect with residents about the Jamacha Waterway Revitalization Project. Dozens of people attended both of the workshops, eager to weigh in on the proposed infrastructure improvements.
The Jamacha Waterway Revitalization Project will improve stormwater infrastructure between Imperial Avenue and Beacon Drive, spanning the neighborhoods of Encanto, Skyline, Paradise Hills and Jamacha Lomita. Once complete, benefits of this project will include green space, water quality improvements, increased waterway capacity in the storm channel, a new multi-purpose trail and a new pedestrian bridge.
Project leaders kicked off each workshop with a detailed presentation outlining the goals and scope of the revitalization effort. Presentations were followed by a question-and-answer session, allowing residents to voice their thoughts and gain a better understanding. This was followed by an interactive session where attendees rotated through five project stations. At each station, participants had the opportunity to speak directly with Stormwater infrastructure and community planning teams, to ask detailed questions and fill out comment cards to share feedback.
The Jamacha Waterway Revitalization Project is a major component of the broader Chollas Watershed Master Plan. The project is currently in its planning stage and the feedback from the community workshops will be considered as work moves forward.
The City of San Diego also wants to hear your feedback on the Jamacha Waterway Revitalization Project. Please fill out this online survey to share your preference on trail amenities, the type of bridge to be installed and more! Feedback will be accepted through Wednesday, April 30.
Special thanks to Groundwork San Diego-Chollas Creek for helping organize these public workshops and Trinity Lutheran Church for hosting.
