Even though it is finally starting to cool down after the recent heat wave, it’s still summertime in San Diego and everyone loves a visit to the pool! This Saturday, Sept. 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Parks and Recreation Department invites all community members to AquaFest – San Diego’s largest family pool party held at the Clairemont Pool.

This free event will give participants the opportunity to check out the pool and some of the improvements that have been made recently and learn about all the offerings of the City of San Diego’s Aquatics program.  Activities include:

  • Inflatable in-water obstacle course

  • Foam party (ideal for ages 2-9, parents must be present)

  • Swim safety demonstrations on appropriate life jacket use, rescue techniques, CPR and first aid

  • Parent and tot swim lesson workshops (ideal for kids ages 6 months to 3 years and their parents)

  • Fun in the pool!

At noon, Falck Ambulance and Parks and Recreation Department staff will also provide a simulated emergency response drill, showing an in-water rescue and transfer of care to ambulance personnel.

While at AquaFest, community members are welcome to step out to the adjoining Clairemont Park and Recreation Center for Clairemont Family Day, presented by the South Clairemont Recreation Council and community volunteers. Festivities include a pancake breakfast fundraiser, free pony rides, live music, and entertainment featuring bands, dancers, magicians, locally owned businesses, community information booths, and much more.

Both AquaFest and Clairemont Family Day are free and open to the public. The Clairemont Pool is located at 3600 Clairemont Dr., 92117.
