City of San Diego Police Take Part in National Event Promoting Safe School Routes
As part of National Walk, Bike and Roll to School Month, the City of San Diego Police Department’s Northern Division visited elementary schools in the communities of Clairemont and Bay Ho this week.
Officers joined families and students from Holmes Elementary and Cadman Elementary schools for the safety-focused special event on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
San Diego was one of thousands of communities in 47 states across the U.S. that joined together to promote safer, more active travel for youth.
Walk, Bike and Roll to School is an initiative that encourages healthy habits, heightens awareness of traffic safety, draws attention to environmental concerns around schools, and is a great way to identify safe routes to school.
The event also reinforces the City’s Vision Zero initiative to make San Diego streets safer by improving our streets and sidewalks and ensuring safe travel for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.
