City of San Diego Highlights "Dennis V. Allen and Other San Diego Firsts" Exhibit
The Office of the City Clerk Archives hosted the "Dennis V. Allen and Other San Diego Firsts" exhibit in the lobby of the City Administration Building, from June 20 to July 7.
This exhibit honored and recognized local trailblazers, such as Dennis V. Allen, founder of The San Diego Race Relations Society, who fought to challenge racial discrimination; Henrietta Goodwin the first Black graduate of San Diego State University; and Mara W. Elliott, the first female, first Latina and first mother elected as City Attorney in San Diego.
The trailblazers featured in this exhibit broke significant barriers and achieved social and political milestones for equality in our City. To view the archival materials that were displayed during the exhibit, visit Dennis V. Allen and Other San Diego First documents.
