Kindergarteners shouted with glee when Mayor Kevin Faulconer, dressed as Santa Claus, made a special visit at Burbank Elementary School in December.
The Mayor spent time singing Christmas songs and reading with the children in his sister’s classroom in Logan Heights. It’s a tradition he’s kept for nearly 15 years. Handing out bundles of books to the students is Mayor Faulconer’s way of encouraging the kids to continue a lifetime of learning.
“Santa’s here to remind them how important it is that they’re reading,” said Mayor Faulconer. “That’s why Santa brings books every year when he comes.”
