Runners, walkers go the distance for Parks Fit 5K

More than 250 people registered for the Parks Fit Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, Aug. 12 at NTC Park in Liberty Station. The event was the culmination of the fourth annual Parks Fit San Diego Challenge which encourages the public to walk, run, roll or swim 30 miles at City parks, open spaces and beaches.

Saturday’s event kicked off at 8 a.m. on a 5K course around NTC Park at Liberty Station. After the run, participants enjoyed games, music, prizes and other activities, including a rock climbing wall and inflatable obstacle course. Lifeguards offered pool safety tips and a chance to meet Josh the Otter, a lovable mascot who encourages drowning prevention education for families.
