The Inside San Diego Privacy Policy and General Disclosure is effective as of February, 2016.

Inside San Diego (referred to as “we,” “our,” “ISD,” “site,” or “website”) is an extension of the City of San Diego ( The purpose of this site is to provide a source for information to the public about the City, from the City.

By using this site you are subject to this “Privacy Policy and General Disclosure.” This “Privacy Policy and General Disclosure” is to explain to users what type of user information may be collected while a user visits ISD, and how ISD and our third party affiliates may use that user information.

We collect data from all of our users during your time on our site for both online and offline purposes, including but not limited to, general user traffic analysis, ISD performance improvement, ISD system maintenance, and other internal City reporting purposes. The user information collected includes non-personally identifiable information, and may include personally identifiable information.

This is our most current “Privacy Policy and General Disclosure.” We reserve the right to change or update this at any time. Any older versions can be found on the About page.


  • Device information: Whether you viewed our site on a mobile device or desktop and what browser you used.
  • Affinities: Could include age bracket, gender, general location by city and state. The information does not identify you, personally, by name or other reference.
  • Page(s) you visited on our site and on what date; and how you accessed the site.
  • IP address or Internet domain from which you accessed ISD.
  • How you came to our website.
  • We may collect this information by using cookies or similar technology.
  • Other personal information if provided by the user.
  • ISD may also provide collected user information to third parties such as Google Analytics. ISD does not provide a method for users to control privacy settings, or limit the collection of user information.


ISD’s collection of user information does not change when a Do Not Track signal or other mechanism designed to limit the collection of user information is detected.


Ask parent permission before using any website, including ISD.

Any information collected by any City of San Diego website from children 13 and under are subject to the same guidelines of our City Website general privacy policy. In addition, for any information collected by or for any child under 13, the following guidelines will be followed:

  • Information that could be collected from or for a minor includes, but not necessarily limited to: name, address, telephone number, email address, school, hobbies and any question or comment submitted.
  • Parental consent will be obtained before collecting, using or disclosing personal information about a child. [Parent includes legal guardian.]

In the event that the City changes its practices of collecting, using or disclosing any information in a substantive way, new parental consent will be obtained. An example of a change may include, what material is collected, how the information may be used, or third party access to that information.

Upon verification of a child’s parent’s identity, the requesting parent will be able to review the personal information collected from their child.

A parent will be allowed to revoke their consent and the City will delete information collected from or for their children on request. When consent is revoked, the website will stop collecting, using or disclosing information from or for that child. Revocation may end a child’s participation in an activity if the information collected was necessary for participation on the website.

If a user submits information to our server through a web page containing visible indicators of active encryption technology, the City of San Diego will take all reasonable precautions to safeguard the confidentiality of such information, but shall nevertheless not be held liable for any injury caused by the disclosure of that information, whether caused by security breach, accident, inadvertence, or any other act resulting in disclosure.

You automatically indemnify the City of San Diego and operators of ISD from any and all damages caused directly or indirectly from the use of this site.

Operation of ISD and online applications may be interrupted by scheduled maintenance and unavailable at certain times. The City does not warrant the availability of this website or its online applications, and disclaims all liability in respect to loss or damage incurred by a user that results, directly or indirectly, from loss of service, malfunction, or failure of the website or any online application, or any other cause connected with your use of the website or an online application.

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without giving effect to any principles of conflict of laws. You agree that any action at law or equity arising out of or relating to these terms shall be filed only in the state or federal court located in San Diego, California and you hereby consent and submit to the personal jurisdiction of such court for the purposes of litigating any such action. If any of these terms or provisions shall be deemed unlawful, void, or any reason unenforceable, then that term or provision shall be deemed severable from the remaining terms and provisions and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining terms and provisions.


Communications made through Inside San Diego shall in no way be deemed to constitute legal or official notice to the City of San Diego, its agencies, officers, employees, representatives, or agents with respect to any existing, pending, or future claim or cause of action against the City of San Diego or any of its agencies, officers, employees, representatives, or agents where notice is required by federal, state, or local law.

Content and information on ISD are provided as a public service and intended to afford general information on matters of public interest. Accordingly, the information in this site is not intended to serve as legal, accounting or tax advice.

ISD may provide links to outside websites. We do not take responsibility for any security malfunctions, breaches, malware attacks or any other result occurred to the user when entering a different website.
